Job Opportunities

The University of Kentucky’s Center for Biomedical Engineering anticipates significant growth over the next decade and invites applications from outstanding individuals to fill tenure-track/tenured faculty positions. Candidates in the early to middle stages of their career with exceptional promise for academic and research productivity are encouraged to apply. The applicant will be expected to develop a distinguished, extramurally-funded research program and contribute to teaching and mentoring activities within the Center’s graduate program. Areas of particular interest include: 1) tissue engineering and regenerative medicine applied to connective, cardiovascular, or neural tissues; 2) approaches to investigating cardiopulmonary or neural disorders at integrated systems to tissue/cellular levels; and 3) image processing and imaging of molecular and cellular processes.  Investigators seeking to develop multi-investigator, interdisciplinary research programs that complement existing faculty research are especially desirable. We offer strong collegial collaboration, with close proximity (5 minute walk) to the Colleges of Engineering, Medicine, Pharmacy, Dentistry, Agriculture, and the UK Hospital. Competitive salary and start-up packages will be available, as well as access to excellent core research facilities.

The University is located in Lexington, a city of 250,000 residents in the heart of the rolling hills and horse farms of the Bluegrass region of Central Kentucky, an area consistently rated among the best places to relocate and raise a family. The cost of living is low compared with most major metropolitan regions in the U.S. Recreational opportunities (e.g., hiking, fishing, hunting, riding, and boating) are enjoyed by many residents. The local arts community focuses on Appalachian music, country dance, and crafts.  Cincinnati and Louisville are each a 90-minute drive away.

Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled. Applicants should apply for the position on-line at http://ukjobs.uky.edu by January 31, 2012.  Submit PDF files consisting of a letter of interest, complete curriculum vitae, statement of research goals, statement of teaching philosophy, and contact information for three professional references.  The UK position number for this posting is SM537249.

Please visit http://www.cbme.uky.edu for more information about the Center.

The University of Kentucky is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer.  Women and minorities are encouraged to apply.
